How To Get Lucky
Would you like to get lucky? There are at least a dozen ways. The simplest one is to just start looking for good luck. Have you ever noticed that when you buy a new car, you start to see similar cars all over? They were there, of course, but now you are seeing them, because your are looking. This is how it is with luck too. Start counting the ways you are lucky in life, and the first thing you'll notice is that you feel better. A sense of gratitude is good for your soul, even if you're not religious. Start watching for more good luck, and you'll notice that you "get lucky" more often. This won't be your imagination. Looking For Good Luck Creates It I won't tell you God or the universe brings luck into your life once there's grattitude in your heart. That's a nice thought, but not my style. The less spiritual explanation is that when you acknowledge luck, and look for more, you create a certain frame of mind. It helps you take advantage of opportunities you might otherwise not recognize. A friend mentions a new business in town that is hiring, for example. You might usually think nothing of it, but what if you were watching for luck, and grateful for the good luck you've seen in your life? You're more likely to check it out. Months later you may be working for this company, making more money and saying "Boy did I get lucky." Have you heard the saying, "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade?" This is the frame of mind of a lucky person. Seeing how lucky you are, even in small ways, makes the possibility of good luck more real to you. This gets you watching. Then the watching gets you thinking, "How is this lucky for me? What can I do with this situation? How can I make lemonade from these lemons?" October: A Month of Personal Harvest
October is hands down my favorite month. Every year l look forward to a visit to Lynd's Fruit Farm in Pataskala, Ohio. My husband and I get in the car on a crisp day and take in the leaves displaying their glorious colors as we travel the country road. Once we reach the farm, I pour through bushel baskets brimming with gourds and Indian corn, wander the pumpkin patch, and pluck ripe apples from the trees. In addition, I reflect upon the hard work that was put in months before by the Lynd's in anticipation of this one month of autumn abundance.
